Hi everyone!  So sorry that I have neglected this blog over the winter.  Some of you may have known that I have been in China for the last three months.  Ashley and I had the opportunity to go overseas to teach Photography, Business, Reading and Literature to Chinese college students.  It was an amazing experience for both of us.  We were able to teach students and build up their confidence for the future.  We also built lifelong relationships with many of the students.  When we weren’t in the classroom we were spending time getting to know them and their culture while we shared about our lives.  I will be sharing more soon.

Here is a photo of me in front of the school we were teaching at…

PUG (Pictage User Group) is a great way to network with local photographers in your area. Pictage is one of the best online photography labs and it is used by many of the elite photographers in our industry. You don’t have to be a Pictage User to go to a PUG. This Saturday at the Kansas City PUG, hosted by Christina Blincoe, we will be having a special guest visit us from Atlanta, GA. Her name is Tana and she owns Wild Sorbet Frame Company. She will be speaking on “Designing To Sell”. Come on out and join other photographers and learn more about marketing your photography, the latest from Pictage, and meet other talented photographers. This PUG will be at the Jordan Photography Studio. See the flyer below for more information on this event. Christina will be providing lunch for all that attend so please RSVP her at info@blincoephotography.com or 913.963.7817. See you all on Saturday!

Wanted to share some behind the scenes photos from ‘Moving Beyond The Basics’ Photography Workshop that we just had at the Overland Park Convention Center on September 27th. Ashley took all of these photos and did an amazing job of making sure the models were getting everything they needed while capturing a few great photos of the details throughout the day. I will posting some of the final shots from the day soon so keep checking back. If you haven’t seen it yet the last post was a teaser photo that is one of the final photos from the shoot. Enjoy the behind the scenes…

‘Moving Beyond The Basics’ Photography Workshop was a huge success. We had over 40 photographers attend the workshop. Everyone learned a lot and got some great images. I will be sharing all about the workshop and posting more photos soon! Until then, here is teaser… one of my favorite shots from the day with Jenny and Shawn:

Sara – Senior Slideshow

September 24, 2009

Sara is a high school senior this year and she has such a beautiful spirit!  I was delighted when her mom, Lori, asked me to go to Wichita to shoot her senior portraits.  We had such a great time and the weather couldn’t have been better.  The beautiful cloud covered sky allowed for some amazing backdrops in Old Town.  Sara got really comfortable with the camera once I found out her recent celebrity crush was Mitchell Davis.  I had no idea who that was but one mention of his name and she would give me cutest looks.  She was great and I just love the photos we captured that day!  Here are a few of my favorites…

The clouds were amazing on this shot and they let through a beam of sunlight to make it even better.  One of my faves!

Thanks Sara! You were great and you made my job easy. I guess I should thank Mitchell Davis too:)

Jessica was referred to me by a friend and she contacted be my email about an esession.  I never met her or John before our shoot but it didn’t take long to break the ice and get everybody laughing. We had such a great time on the Plaza and down at the River Market.  The weather was beautiful and Jessica and John were totally in love.  We laughed a lot that day and got some amazing photos too.  They are going to have a destination wedding in Hawaii next year.  Maybe I will get invited after the fun we had this afternoon:)  Congratulations Jessica and John!

This shot is my favorite.  I love the figure in the Chanel poster looking over at them.  Purely accidental but it makes the shot even better…

Liz and Jordan 6.6.09

July 13, 2009

It seems like yesterday when I saw a younger Liz in Sunday School talking about all the boys.  That was over 7 years ago and she has now blossomed into a beautiful woman.  It started like any college relationship… Liz and Jordan met at MidAmerica Nazarene and started hanging out with no intentions of dating.  Over time one thing led to another and their hearts fell for each other.  Jordan knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Liz.  They are such a young beautiful couple too!  Their relationship is centered around their faith and you can see how excited they are when they are together.  I had such a great time shooting their wedding and seeing where God has brought Liz from the days of high school youth group.  It will be even more exciting to see where He takes Liz and Jordan as a couple.  They will do amazing things together!  Congratulations Liz and Jordan!

Suzie and Matt 6.13.09

July 7, 2009

Suzie and Matt are one of the coolest couples that I know.  I went to college with Suzie years ago and she is the most fun to be around.  I seriously walk away with a sore jaw from laughter every time I am around her!  Matt is such a great guy too.  I just met Matt a year ago and he is so down to earth and such a nice guy to be around.  The two of them have been traveling the globe individual for many years of their lives serving and loving the less fortunate.  Their paths crossed a couple years back along their international travels and they hit it off instantly.  They would see each other only a few times in the next year but it was always something they looked forward to.  As their relationship grew they fell in love with each other and wanted to pursue the rest of life’s journey by each others side. They recently got married in the small farm town where Suzie grew up.  It was such a pleasure shooting their wedding and Ashley and I got some stunning shots of them, along with the wedding party, wadding in the golden wheat fields of Central Kansas.  Congratulations Suzie and Matt!

Their love for each other just radiates from this shot…

Guys need to losin’ up and have fun on the wedding day too.  Check the guy out on the right!!…

Suzie and her bridesmaids were so beautiful!  This is one of my favorite shots from the day…
